SwitchPlease Instructions

SwitchPlease is a web interface running on a single Receiver that provides full HDMI switching control for the Just Add Power HD over IP solution. No control system needed!

  • For A6.5.5 and later, SwitchPlease is included in the core firmware
  • For firmware A6.5.0, download and apply the firmware patch file from the link below: Link

Download contains:

  • SwitchPlease firmware patch for all Receiver models
  • Firmware patch for Transmitter models (for other features added in same firmware – Transmitter does not need patching for SwitchPlease)
  • Firmware update instructions

Requirements:

  1. IP address of  Just Add Power setup and installation
  2. Fully configured JADConfig system
    • Supported Luxul or Cisco switch (** at default username/password)
    • Just Add Power Transmitters and Receivers on latest Plug-Play-Present™ firmware
  3. Static route from the data VLAN to the Just Add Power subnet

Setup Procedure:

  1. Run JADConfig to configure the switch and all J+P devices. Choose firmware A6.5.5.
  2. Enable SwitchPlease on only one Receiver with the command below. The command can be applied through the Console API box on the web interface, or via telnet.

  1. The Receiver will reboot. When it comes back up, open the web interface of the Receiver at http://[ReceiverIP]/switchplease.
  2. Select the Page icon at the bottom right to open the Settings Menu.

  1. Expand the Receiver Settings option to set:
    • Name – The name of the Receiver in the interface
    • Show/Hide – Set whether the Receiver appears in the interface
    • Image Pull – Set whether the Image Pull image will show on the interface. Image Pull must be enabled separately as well.

  1. Expand the Transmitter Settings option to set:
    • Name – The name of the Transmitter in the interface
    • Show/Hide – Set whether the Transmitter can be selected as a source

  1. Save changes
    • Select the “check” mark at the bottom center to save the settings to the local browser. The settings will only affect the local device accessing the Receiver.
    • Select the “disc” symbol at the bottom left to save settings to the Receiver itself. This will result in the settings being applied across all devices and browsers that access SwitchPlease.
    • Select the “X” to cancel changes.
    • If local settings and Receiver settings are present, local settings override Receiver settings.

Usage

Switch a Single Receiver

  1. Click the Receiver box to select it. A Transmitter popup will appear.
  2. Click a Transmitter to switch. The popup will disappear.

Switch Multiple Receivers

  1. Click on the square in the top right corner of the Receiver box. It will light up white.
  2. Continue to click squares until all Receivers are selected.
  3. Click any of the selected Receiver boxes to get the Transmitter popup.
  4. Click a Transmitter to switch. The popup will disappear.

DeBrick recovers 2G, 2GΩ/3G, and 3G devices that have had their firmware update interrupted.

Software

Required Hardware

  • Just Add Power debug cable
  • PC with serial port or USB-to-serial adapter
  • Wired network connection
  • Power supply for Just Add Power device
    • 5-Volt, 2-Amp for 2G
    • 5-Volt to 23-Volt, 2-Amps or less for 2GΩ/3G and 3G

Instructions

Debrick physical connections
  1. Make 2 physical connections between the Debrick PC and the Just Add Power device:
    • CatX network cable directly from PC to network port of device
    • RS232 debug cable connected from PC to white 3-pin port on bottom of device
  2. Leave the power cord disconnected at the beginning
  3. Select the Device Type for the unit being recovered
  4. Select the Serial Port for the RS232 debug cable connection and remove power from the device when prompted (if not already removed)
  5. Make sure the debug cable is connected, then select the box labeled Connect Bricked Device Directly to Computer via RS232 Console Port.
  6. When the popup message appears, apply power to the device. The green bar at the bottom will move to RS232 Connection Established.
  7. Make sure the network cable is connected directly between the PC and Just Add Power device, then select the box labeled Connect Bricked Device Directly to Computer Via Ethernet. A prompt will confirm.
  8. Select the wired Network Interface connected to the Just Add Power device.
  9. Select the box labeled Begin Recovery Process and allow the process to run to completion without interruption. DANGER: Interrupting the process before completion will most likely result in an unrecoverable unit.
  10. The Debrick process will take between 5 – 8 minutes depending on the unit type.
  11. When the Debrick process is completed, a prompt will ask if you want to update to the newest firmware (Debrick does not always contain the newest firmware). Choose the option needed.
  12. The unit is recovered and has all settings that were applied to it before the unit became damaged.
