Step 1: Download the firmware Zip file from the Concert XR 4/6/8 receiver or Maestro X7/X9 product page on the AudioControl website (Downloads section). Un-zip if necessary and make a note of the folder where the files are saved. You can also find the firmware files here.
Step 2: From the Host Firmware folder copy only the Host [.fw] file [AVRx0_System0vxxxx (AudioControl).fw] onto a 1 GB or larger USB drive. Be sure there are no other files or previous versions of the firmware on the USB drive. Once the copy is complete eject the USB drive from your computer.
Step 3: Power ON the receiver or processor, then plug the USB drive into the rear panel USB port.
Step 4: Press the front panel INFO and DISPLAY buttons together for about 3 seconds or until you see the firmware begin to load. The update process will start automatically. The unit will power off after the firmware has been updated.
Step 5: Power the unit back on, press and hold the front panel Menu button for approximately 5 seconds. The Engineering menu will be displayed, select Reset to Factory Defaults. The unit will power off after the factory reset.
Step 6: Power the unit back on, press the Menu button > navigate to and select Network so you can view the Network information.
Step 7: Remove the USB drive from the back of the receiver or processor and plug it back into your computer. Delete the Host [.fw] file and the Results file from the drive. Going back to the firmware folder downloaded earlier, locate the Net Update Firmware folder and copy the image.swu file from that folder to the USB drive. Or if you are using two USB drives as mentioned above, copy the image.swu file onto the second empty drive.
Step 8: Eject the USB drive and plug it back into the rear panel USB port on the receiver or processor. Observe the Network information on the front panel display to ensure that the unit is acquiring an IP address from the local network. Then exit the Network settings by pressing the front panel Menu button.
Step 9: Press and hold the INFO and DISPLAY buttons on the front panel for about 3 seconds or until the display shows NET Updating. The update process will start automatically. The unit will power off after the firmware has been updated.
Step 10: Power the unit back on, press and hold the front panel Menu button for approximately 7 seconds. The Engineering menu will be displayed, select Reset to Factory Defaults. The unit will power off after the factory reset.
Power the unit back on. Now you can configure your receiver or processor by either restoring your saved settings or by starting from scratch in the setup menus. Click here for setup menu instructions.
To restore your saved settings press and hold the front panel Menu button until the Engineering menu is displayed, navigate to and select Restore Secure Backup, you will be prompted with a warning message, select the Direct button to continue and complete the process of restoring your settings. You can also restore settings via the web interface Engineering menu. Upload any Dirac calibration files that you have saved on your computer back to the receiver or processor. Also remember to disconnect any home automation control processors from the network before attempting to run the Dirac Live software as they may interfere with communications between Dirac Live and your AVR or Pre/Pro.
You may want to turn Auto Standby off – press and hold the Menu button again, the Engineering menu will be displayed, navigate to the Standby Mode option and change this setting to Manual.
